Medicinal Leech Therapy (hirudotherapy)

Hirudotherapy – or medicinal leech therapy – is one of the most ancient medicinal techniques in the world. It was practised more than 1500 years ago in Egypt, where it continues to be applied for its natural benefits.
When leeches bite, they inject an anti-coagulant and a powerful natural anaesthetic. As a result, the tissues are decongested, oedemas are resorbed, and blood is fluidised and purified.

The saliva of leeches is also known for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic qualities.
Hirudotherapy is used for:

- reducing oedemas

- relieving osteoarthritis

- fluidising blood

- dissolving blood clots

- curing tendinitis

- accelerating the healing of tissues

- cleaning a wound

- grafting skin on small areas

My advanced training in hirudotherapy enables me to offer this 100% natural and highly effective approach.

Based on the type of problem, it will be put in place in agreement and consultation with your veterinarian.

A hirudotherapy session lasts approximately 2 hours.

As with any of the proposed techniques, should the animal suffer from locomotor and/or other diseases, a diagnosis and veterinary prescription are mandatory before I can perform the treatment.
